This test also encompasses pure academic contents with integrated tasks. It takes 2 hours to complete the entire test. It is a computer based test which is conducted at an authorized test centre. TOEFL iBT Home edition is also available now, which is held at the candidate's home, monitored by a live human proctor.
The total score possible is 0 - 120. Speaking and Writing section responses are evaluated by a combination of AI scoring and ETS certified raters. The candidate must answer at least one question each in the Reading and Listening sections and complete at least one Speaking task and one Writing task in order to receive official scores.
TOEFL iBT scores will be available in the students' ETS account 4-8 days after their test date. When their scores become available, you will receive an email. The scores will be valid for 2 years from the test date.
TOEFL iBT score reports will have a new 1-6 scale in half point increments from 21 January, 2026 onwards. The candidate will get 4 section scores, as well as an overall score, on the 1-6 scale. The overall score will be the average of all 4 sections, rounded to the nearest half band (for example, if the average of your section scores is 4.25, you will receive an overall score of 4.5). For a 2 year transition period after January 2026, the candidate will also receive a comparable overall score on the 0-120 scale.
